Good for combination skin, malassezia, eczema, adult acne, comedones, rough skin texture…

Let’s focus on treatment and moisturizing products!

  1. Treatment products
….are those that contain active ingredients that help you fight your skin issues. The most common active ingredients in fighting most of the skin problems are> Salicylic acid (BHA), Willow bark extract ( less stronger than salicylic acid, but still effective in gently exfoliating skin and reducing acne, blackheads), Azelaic acid (doesn’t fall into the AHA or BHA category, rather it comes from yeast), Retinoid (adapalene). All of them are exfoliating your skin and it is so important to use a good moisturizer just after application of the treating ingredient.

The list of products you can carefully use>
    -Retinoid/Adapalene: Differin Gel
-Salicylic acid: Alba Botanica Acne dot wash (for face and body parts on which you have backacne)
-Willow bark: Andalou naturals Willow bark Pure pore toner
    -Azelaic acid: Skinoren 20%

*Be super careful not to overuse active ingredients in order to avoid skin purging and worsening of your issues. The less is better. Keep up with the strict routine. Read more about the routine here https://downthehorizont.wordpress.com/2023/01/04/combination-skin-in-your-30s/

  2. Taking care of your skin barrier and natural microbiome is done by choosing the right moisturizing product. I like first check the ingredients on skincarisma.com –https://www.skincarisma.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=hada+labo

My favourite list of moisturizers>
Hada Labo lotion No.1 Super hydrator
Hada Labo Goku Jyun Premium hydrating lotion
-Sebamed clear face care gel
-Innisfree Jeju Orchid Enriched Cream
-Innissfree Jeju Cherry Blossom Jelly cream

*It is important to mix both gel moisturizing texture with the creamy one, since the light, water-based gelish texture is not enough for the deep and long lasting protection of your skin barrier.

*Light textures in form of gel and water based lotions are amazing for treating oily, oversebaceous activity skin.

*For the mature skin that is prone to comedones but belongs to the combination skin type (let’s say it’s dry on the forehead but oily on the cheeks) both types of the moisturizers are welcome/ with light and just a bit denser structure. I use Innisfree orchid enriched cream in the morning and sebamed clear face care gel in the evening. This way I’m in control of sebum production and in the same time I’m protecting my skin barrier.

Love,
Sofia
