Vitosha, the mountain above Sofia, and one of its beautiful, peaceful monasteries.

The capital of Bulgaria is such a green city with lots of kaldrma streets, cute sokaks, creating cozy vibe. Sofia has well-preserved architecture telling amazing stories from the city’s remarkable history. It used to have names- Serdica (Roman name) and Sredets (Slavic name) before. Cultural diversity is shown in almost every corner and what is the best about this city is that it is easily walkable! You can also use the popular electric scooters or trotinetki and get around the places fast, and you can find them anywhere around the city.
Bulgaria is well known for its prehistoric finds, tombs, sites from Greek and Roman times, two Bulgarian Kingdoms, and the communist era, as well. There are so many architectural landmarks but the most popular are monasteries. One of the monasteries we visited is Dragalevski Monastery on the Vitosha mountain.
This monstery is build around 1371-1393.
It used to be a gathering place of Bulgarian liberators who were fighting against the Turk occupation that took place in all of Balkan in the mid-19th century. The abbot of the monastery, Genadii helped one of the national heroes- Vassil Levski (Васил Левски) who was organizing the revolution in Sofia.
