Under the scenic views of a mountain lies a traditional, charming village…
Majestic views spread unforcefully from Assos mountain.
In 2016 ten of us started our journey to the small village of Zola in Kefalonia. Separated in two cars we drove for thirteen hours from Belgrade. The whole island seemed so beautiful, unpopulated, with vast nature. We encountered a lot of wild goats roaming freely over the rocky landscapes, went to so many wild beaches, but the place that left the most impression was Assos.

Against the Turkish threats, there was a settlement built in the 16th century on the top of the mountain. At that time Kefalonia, Lefkada, and other near islands were under Venetian rule, or the Republic of Venice. The Venetians also built the capital of Kefalonia, which is Argostoli, now the typically looking greek town. From the fortress, you can see this beautiful view of the magnificent Ionian sea.

Why Greece and her dear islands (I purposely say her) will always be the best place for a holiday?
Because of its undisrupted nature, welcoming, spontaneous people living in the moment, because of the healthy and delicious food, their traditional, soulful music (Giorgios Dalaras 🙂 ). You can relax on the sand, without an extravaganza, and reconnect with nature, with the sea, sand, sun and remember to take just a few things with you. Kefalonia is not for a luxurious dress you take a picture in for the sake of your followers you never met, and it is not for a five-star hotel where you will swim in the chlorine pool and is most certainly not for those who don’t cherish their inner child always ready for an adventure.

I have always been fascinated by the details of each culture as if they can tell the story, explain the character, and feelings of a town, reflecting the nation itself. I love bugenvillia. She can be so bright on the sun, lengthening towards it in many different colors. Different shades of purple, violet, peachy yellow, white are making the atmosphere vivid anywhere they are planted.
